Application Engineer - Computer Science - Graduate Engineer

What You Will Do 

  • Contribute to the design and development of Signaling software application for Platform Door Control Unit and other wayside applications. 

The position is taking the role of Application Engineer who supports Work Package Leader of an on-going signaling project to:

  • Undertake the preparation of designs and configurations associated with the PDCU system. 
  • Undertake the preparation of PDCU software application design for interfacing to external Platform Screen Door and signalling system. 
  • Opportunity to take the wider scope of wayside application such as CFMS and CBTC Map development. 
  • Maintain strict change control on scope development. 
  • Participate in project activities such as internal progress meetings and customer support initiatives, client meetings.
  • Additionally, provide input to CCB activities. 
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and tenders and ensure compliance to customer requirements. 
  • Attend and contribute to weekly and monthly meetings and partake in self-learning activities and transfer of knowledge to others. 
  • Use configuration management software to maintain configuration of the drawings and document. 
  • Use requirement management tools to specify onboard hardware sub-system requirements and ensure requirements are fully met by V & V process. 
  • Contribute to standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions 
  • Apply processes and standards. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (RoE: Return on Experience, process).
  • Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.  

Performance measurements: 

  • Deliver documents and designs on time, within budget and in good quality. 

Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Computer Science. 
  • Good command of English and good communication skills. 
  • Capable and willing to learn. 
  • Able to work under pressure and to time constraints. 
  • Team oriented. 
  • Positive thinking and a good attitude to work.
  • Experience in programming is an advantage.
  • The preferred candidate shall have 0-3 years of experience in related railway business fields.
